Living with HIV is challenging, but you don’t have to face it alone. At Clinica Bienestar, we’re here to help with every part of HIV prevention and care — from education and testing to treatment and support groups.
HIV is a condition that weakens your immune system. Without treatment, it can develop into AIDS. But with the right care, people with HIV can live long, healthy lives.
Who should get tested? The CDC recommends regular HIV testing if you are sexually active or share needles. In general, everyone between the ages of 13 and 64 should be tested at least once. The sooner you know your status, the sooner you can take the next step.

PEP
PEP (Post-Exposure Prophylaxis) is an emergency medication you take after a possible exposure to HIV. It’s a 28-day course that must be started as soon as possible — and no later than 72 hours (3 days) after exposure. PEP is only for emergencies and is not a substitute for regular HIV prevention.
PrEP
PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) is a medication you take before potential exposure to HIV. It’s available as a daily pill or a bimonthly injection. When taken as prescribed, PrEP reduces the risk of getting HIV from sex by about 99%. It’s recommended for people who are at higher risk of coming into contact with HIV through sex or injection drug use.
