Hepatitis C (HCV) is an infection that affects your liver. It can be mild and short-lived, or it can become a serious long-term condition.
One of the tricky things about Hep C is that it often has no symptoms early on, which makes it hard to catch. That’s why testing matters. At Clinica Bienestar, we can help with every step — from prevention to testing to treatment.
Left untreated, Hep C can lead to severe problems like liver cancer and scarring of the liver (cirrhosis). Testing is especially important if you are pregnant, inject drugs, have HIV, or have had abnormal liver test results.
Baby Boomers & Hep C
If you were born between 1946 and 1964, you have a higher chance of having Hepatitis C. Baby boomers make up about a quarter of the U.S. population, but account for 75% of all Hep C cases. That means roughly 1 in 30 baby boomers is living with the disease — often without knowing it.
Your risk may be even higher if you received a blood transfusion before 1992 or ever used intravenous or intranasal drugs, even just once.
If you or someone you love falls in this age group, we encourage you to get tested. It’s a quick, simple step that can protect your health and give you peace of mind.
